Backstage at the 2017 Fall Fashion Show

The looks are bolder, the models are bigger and the collections are even crazier at this years 2017 Fashion Show.  After scrolling endlessly on WWD’s behind the scenes fashion & beauty features, I’ve instantly become inspired by the dazzling looks, whether they include intricately detailed nail designs from the Libertine Fall show to the simplistic bold brows at Narciso Rodriguez, this year there is something fitted for everyone. Here is my take on some of the trends that I’ve picked up:

Rich Burgundy Lips:

Although its no ground breaking revelation, dark lips have made it big this season and doesn’t look to be slowing down. Celebrity reality star Kendall Jenner was spotted with a rich burgundy lip at the La Perla show.

Pearl-esque Eyes:

This year, the general trend was bold face and lips and simple eyes, keeping the eye makeup simple, natural and dewy. Replace your eyeliners with a nude shadow or glossy shimmer or, in this case, with tiny pearls and gemstones applied to the inner corner of the eyes. This intricate look really made the eyes pop without looking overdone with the bold lips.

Strong Brows:

Last years bold brows don’t seem to be going anywhere, as models from the Michael Kors show rocked the look with their brows being their statement beauty look. MAC’s lead make up artist Dick Page says “its very straight forward- a very strong brow, but not faked out, just filling it in for each girl”. To emphasise the look, add a little brown pencil at the lash lines and the look is complete.

All About The Forties:

Although makeup was simplistic, hairstyles certainly did not hold back. The Anna Sui’s Fashion Show took inspiration from the Forties, but added in a modern touch. “This season Anna was inspired by the biography of Elsa Schiaparelli and the parties she used to throw,” said Garren, who led hair for R+Co. Models with shorter lengths had their hair styled into a bowl cut, while long hairs had little pieces of their hair wrapped into mini knots at the sides of the head.  The knots were locked in with hairspray and the ends of the hair were left natural.
